Windows XP im KIOSK-Modus – Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit einrichten http://www.wintotal.de/Artikel/msct/msct.php Mit dem kostenlosen Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit (MSCT) kann man Windows XP in den so genannten Kiosk-Modus versetzen, welcher über Fremdprodukte bisher vor allem bei öffentlichen Rechnern oder in Internet-Cafes zum Einsatz kam. In dem folgenden Artikel erklären wir den Einsatzzweck und die Einrichtung des MSCT. Kiosk-Modus für was? Besucher von Internet-Cafes kennen das Szenario: Man loggt sich nach Bezahlung am Rechner ein und surft, chattet, mailt. Ist die Session beendet, loggt man sich im Regelfall aus. Dann fahren die meisten Rechner in Internet-Cafes herunter, machen alle Modifikationen am System automatisch rückgängig und versetzen den Rechner wieder in den Zustand vor der letzten Benutzung. Damit ist gewährleistet, dass alle Spuren des Vorgängers im System gelöscht eventuelle Veränderungen am System rückgängig gemacht werden. Dieses Verhalten des Betriebssystems nennt man im Sprachgebrauch Kiosk-Modus, es ist auch an öffentlichen Terminals und Schulungsrechnern zu finden. Es gibt spezielle Lösungen, welche mit einer Erweiterungskarte den Festplatteninhalt unabhängig vom Betriebssystem nach einem Reboot wiederherstellen. Das kostenlose MSCT ermöglicht den Kiosk-Modus aber auch ohne jede Hardwareerweiterung.
