Schließlich darf die Wnaspi nicht für andere Brennprogramme verwendet werden." ::: INFO :: WIKI : Advanced SCSI Programmer's Interface (ASPI) ASPI-Treiber (auch ASPI-Layer genannt) bieten eine einheitliche Schnittstelle zur Ansteuerung von SCSI- und ATAPI-Geräten (ja, richtig - auch ATAPI-Geräte brauchen einen funktionsfähigen ASPI-Layer, obwohl der Name nicht darauf hindeutet) unter Win9x und WinNT. Während Windows 9x mit einer veralteten Version von Adaptecs ASPI ausgeliefert wird, kommt NT/2000 ganz ohne ASPI daher. Dafür gibt es hier den sog. Device-IO-Modus, über den Software direkt auf CDROM und Brenner zugreifen kann (seit Windows 2000 erhältlich ist, setzt sich diese Zugriffsart immer weiter durch, auch bei diversen Grabbern). Aus diesem Grund sollte ein ASPI-Treiber eigentlich zum Lieferumfang eines jeden SCSI-Hosts, jedem Brenner bzw. jeder CD-Recording-Software gehören. Leider ist das in der Praxis nicht der Fall. Neben Adaptec bietet nur Symbios Logic eigene ASPI-Layer an (auch nur für NT), und Plextor USA hat ebenfalls nur einen für Windows NT im Angebot. Bei der CDR-Software sieht’s schon ein bisschen besser aus, neben Adaptec-Produkten wird nun auch CeQuadrats WinOnCD mit einem aktuellen ASPI-Layer geliefert. Ein nicht funktionierender ASPI-Layer kann sich auf diverse Arten bemerkbar machen (meist nicht reproduzierbare Fehler beim Schreibvorgang und Abbrüche aus heiterem Himmel). A: ASPI is from Adaptec, it comes preinstalled in Win95/98. In all other Windows it needs to be installed, but in these OS the installer tests if any Adaptec hardware is in your computer. Nevertheless you can try to install it, download for Windows 95 only and all other windows versions VOB produced a replacement called ASAPI. It is freely available from here. In WinNT/2000/XP EAC is able to use a native interface in that OS. This is still buggy and only recommended when you don't want to install 3rd party software. Nevertheless, this will only work if you are logged in with admin rights. If you encounter problems, it is strongly recommended to download ASAPI and to change the interface to that.
