UP supports JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, PCX, AVI (reading only), TGA, WMF/EMF, ICO (reading only), IFF/LBM and WAP BMP image formats and Twain compatible scanners. It's similar to what good old Deluxe Paint had, so if you're familiar with DP, you will love Ultimate Paint. The user interface is adjustable to the user's experience level, thus both novice users and experts can use it conveniently. What is the difference between the freeware and shareware version? You can download and use both versions for free. The shareware release is exactly the same as the freeware one except that it shows the full range of image filters, even the ones that can only be used when the program is purchased. You may use all the functions unrestricted - just like in the freeware release -, however if you choose to use Adobe-compatible plugins or one of these advanced image filters (that are clearly distinguished from the free ones) the program warns you and you cannot save the image you applied the filter on. Choose the freeware release if you don't ever plan to purchase Ultimate Paint, just want to use a reliable and sophisticated image editor, and download the shareware release if you might be interested in registering UP later and using its full functionality after you have tested its available features.
