Auch Windows-Benutzer, die ihre Festplatte verkaufen oder verschenken möchten oder denen der Inhalt ihrer Festplatte aus einem anderen Grunde unangenehm ist, booten den Rechner mit DBAN und löschen dann alle Daten nicht wiederherstellbar. Nach der Auforderung die CD zu wechseln und dem durchgeführten Update, kann der Rechner mit den VDF-Dateien gescannt werden. Um gefundene Schädlinge zu löschen/umzubenennen, gibt man, wenn die Parameter angezeigt werden, entweder -ren für Umbenennen, oder -del für Löschen ein.
