It is basically meant to serve as a good WordPad replacement. It supports Unicode and runs under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Its native format is RTF, but it can open, edit and save Word and WordPerfect files (though not with all of their features). It can be used with any script that is supported by Windows and for which a font and a keyboard driver are installed, including right-to-left scripts. QJot can run from a floppy as well, and also integrates with the dictionary/thesaurus program, WordWeb. See more about WordWeb's use in QJot in QJot's "readme" file. Spellchecking can be accomplished by the use of a brilliant little application called TinySpell, a fine, free program which can do effective spellchecking, not only in a program such as QJot, but also any other program: Outlook Express, Notepad, WordPad, etc. Another useful application that can compliment QJot is the auto-complete program LetMeType. LetMeType is an autocompletion program which helps you enter text regardless of the program you use. A list of the most probable words is displayed, and you can select one with a single keystroke or just continue typing. If you need a more feature-rich word processor which is also free, I would suggest having a look at Atlantis Nova or if you need to create headers/footers, footnotes/endnotes, I would certainly suggest AbiWord.
