Hintergrund:
Absender solcher Mails sind Benutzer, die Microsoft Outlook oder Outlook Express verwenden und eine Mail im "Microsoft Outlook Rich Text Format" (RTF) versenden. Dieses outlook-spezifische RTF kann nur von Outlook selbst verarbeitet werden; selbst für MS Word ist dieses RTF-Format ein unbekanntes Format.

Lösung für den Outlook-Absender:
Entweder das Standardformat zum Senden von Nachrichten auf "Nur Text" umstellen - Menü Extras, Optionen, E-Mail-Format - (beste Variante)
oder in den Kontakten bei bestimmten Empfängern "E-Mail als nur-Text senden" aktivieren.

Lösung für den Empfänger:
Variante 1: Dem Absender antworten, dass Sie solche Microsoft-proprietären Formate nicht verarbeiten können!
Variante 2: Es gibt kleine Tools, mit denen man die zunächst gespeicherte winmail.dat wieder in ein lesbares Format konvertieren kann. Siehe dazu die nachfolgende Anleitung.
